9:30-9:40 Learning Logs/Review and Preview of Day’s Activities

Participants will hear excerpts from the learning logs, and will preview the agenda for the day.

9:40-10:10 Writing: Mentors In Our Lives
Presented by Cathy Martinez
Participants will engage in a writing exercise designed to reinforce the idea of the importance and lifelong benefits of mentorship.

10:10-10:15 Break

10:15-11:15 Mentoring Component Implementation
Presented by Cathy Martinez
Participants will learn both about the traditional Puente mentor component and how they can make adaptations in this year’s online environment. Ideas regarding planning, training, recruitment, and activities will be shared and discussed.

11:30-12:00 Puente Team Collaboration
Presented by Nancy Fong, Counselor & Jessica Patapoff, English • Goldenwest College
Participants will hear first-hand from an experienced Puente team about working together as co-coordinators to build a thriving program both inside and outside of the classroom.

12:10-1:00 Recognition/Closing Circle Reflection

Participants will have an opportunity to reflect on their Puente Summer Institute experience.

Assignment: Reflective Journals
Presented by Grace Ebron
Participants will experience how writing can be used to consolidate ideas, capture reflections, and acknowledge questions.
